Christ Faulring |
Christian Edward Faulring was born on March 14, 1876 in the
Town of Concord, New York10, the
5th child of Casper
and
Barbara Faulring.  He grew up on the family farm in the Town of Concord, probably
the farm of his grandfather and father, located on Emerling road.  Throughout his life,
Christian went by the name Christ, which was pronounced with a hard "K" as in Kris.  By
1900, Christ, jointly with his brother, Ferd, was operating
a rented farm in the Town of Concord27.  On
October 15, 1902 9, Christ married
Bertha Smith at Hamburg, New York, and they settled in Boston, New York, initially
renting their home27.  They
later purchased a house on Boston Cross Road.

Christ and Bertha |
In 1905, Christ formed a partnership with his brother
William to establish a feed mill business for
processing
and selling grain.  In Boston, they purchased a small piece of land adjacent to the Buffalo
and Susquehanna Railroad7, where they built
their Feed Mill.  In the neighboring Town of Colden, the
brothers leased land from the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad for their mill.  Christ and
Will operated the C&W Faulring Feed Mill Company until 1938, when they leased both mills
and associated equipment to George and Herold Faulring and DeLee Owen, who continued the
operation until 194513.
Bertha Faulring died on June 23, 194310.
Following her
death, Christ shared his home with Herold Faulring, his nephew, and Herold's
growing family.  Eventually, Herold was able to buy the house, which remains in the
family to this day.  Christ died January 14, 195110.
