Table I:  Government Records - The Protocolos

The "Protocolos" is similar to Notary records.  Entries mostly deal with financial or legal transactions, such as land sales, loans, powers-of-attorney and wills, with an occasional court decision.  The nature of these transactions limited use of the Protocolos to individuals with significant wealth who needed to record their transactions and could afford to do so.  Therefore, this list represents only select a portion of the population.

Nazarena 1869 Mandaue Granted a Power-of-Attorney to her son Manuel Cortes.
Nazarena Maria 1869 Mandaue Recorded her will on two occasions.  Both listed the names parents and children, and one listed her deceased husband.

Bartolome 1873 Mandaue Bought land in Mandaue, Cebu, from Agustin Sanchez.
